The Meek Say Sorry

The Meek Say Sorry

Meekness – an attitude or quality of heart whereby a person is willing to accept and submit without resistance to the will and desire of (God).

In short, a willing heart to submit to God.

Law – rules set in place for your protection with consequences for not complying.

Matthew 5:23-24

23 “Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, 24 leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift.

Reconciliation – the restoration of fractured relationships by overcoming grief, pain, and anger.

(b) – the action of making financial accounts consistent or balanced; harmonization.

  1. Remembering issues with your brother or sister discontinue your relationship with God until you attempt to reconcile.
    • I know you’re a prayer warrior, stop praying!
    • I know you got issues you need God to fix, stop praying!
    • I know you need God to turn it around, get off your knees!

I know what you’re thinking – they have an issue with me and I need to fix it?

EVERYTHING GOD GIVE TO US, WE MUST DISTRIBUTE!

When you messed up, God had to leave His son on the alter, come down and reconcile to us.

1 Corinthians 13:11

When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

  1. It takes maturity to apologize when you’re not even the one with the problem.
  2. In the Bible, God describe a child.
    1. How they speak (no self-control).
    2. How they understand (no comprehension or awareness of serious matters and long-term effects).
    3. How they think (no maturity or spiritual maturity to conceive an idea into one’s mind with or without deliberate consideration or reflection (selfish).

IN OTHER WORDS: GOD CALLS THE MEEK TO MATURITY

1 Corinthians : 14:20

Brothers, do not be children in your thinking. Be infants in evil, but in your thinking be mature.

Proverbs 14:9

Fools mock at making amends for sin, but goodwill is found among the upright.

Mock – making fun of, making light of, or insulting.

Fool – someone who refuses to listen to wisdom or learn from discipline.

Goodwill – friendly, helpful, or cooperative attitude.

Upright – a posture of having or showing a strict regard for what is morally right.

HOW DO GOD VIEW YOU TODAY? ARE YOU MEEK OR A CHILD?

Genesis 50:16-21

So they sent word to Joseph, saying, “Your father left these instructions before he died: 17 ‘This is what you are to say to Joseph: I ask you to forgive your brothers the sins and the wrongs they committed in treating you so badly.’ Now please forgive the sins of the servants of the God of your father.” When their message came to him, Joseph wept.

18 His brothers then came and threw themselves down before him. “We are your slaves,” they said.

19 But Joseph said to them, “Don’t be afraid. Am I in the place of God? 20 You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. 21 So then, don’t be afraid. I will provide for you and your children.” And he reassured them and spoke kindly to them.

3 Keys to Reconciliation

1. Face the Truth – People have become pros at avoiding the truth, because in order to face the truth, they’d have to take some form of responsibility. But in order to have reconciliation, you have to be willing to accept the truth of the person that is seeking to be reconciled.

2. Confess when confronted – Reconciliation isn’t about who is right or wrong, it’s accepting the view of the person seeking to be reconciled.

3. Forgive when asked for Forgiveness – When we truly forgive, we overlook the wrong and we don’t hold it against that person any longer.

Psalms 7:12-16

If a man does not repent, God will sharpen His sword; He has strung and bent His [mighty] bow and made it ready. He has also prepared [other] deadly weapons for Himself; He makes His arrows fiery shafts [aimed at the unrepentant]. Behold, the [wicked and irreverent] man is pregnant with sin, And he conceives mischief and gives birth to lies. He has dug a pit and hollowed it out, And has fallen into the [very] pit which he made [as a trap]. His mischief will return on his own head, And his violence will come down on the top of his head [like loose dirt].
